Presidents Plate 2010

SANTA AND SUBMARINES
3 Races this Sunday. The first 2 with not much wind, the last in a little too much wind, which made for some great pics. Santa and his little helper were spotted at the front of all 3 races until half way through the last one when Alex (who doesnt want any xmas presents this year) found a little extra Reindeer power and shot away for the win. Alexs crew, while Danii is away, Simon, gave us his opinion of the NS14 when he got back to the club, "bloody hard to sail............but once that wind gets up, shit are they fun!!!". Evan was spotted trying to do cartwheels down the bay, while Aidan, fresh from his welcome home party the night before, couldn't wipe the smile off his face after an hours worth of reaching practice at the end of the day.

Heat 4 Club Championship 2010

Heat 4 of the Club Championship was held last weekend. After a change in the course and the arrival of some wind everyone enjoyed a great afternoon on the water. This race was Daniis last one for the year as she is set to return home to Sri Lanka for the xmas break. Alex had great intensions of sending her off in style but Hugh had other ideas. This coming weekend is the 3 race Presidents Plate and will be the last race of 2010 and the final workout before Nationals in Canberra.

2010 NSW Travellers Trophy - Manning Point

The 2010 NSW Travellers Trophy was held at Manning Point, Taree last weekend. 4 boats from the club made the trip. Hugh and his new gun crew Taylor Hodgkinson, Mike and Rosie, still deciding who was going to steer right up until they hit the water, Dave and Charlotte, and Alex and Danii-elle. Saturday was a beautiful day with a nice 8-10 knots breeze, but a very strong outgoing tide, making for some interesting mark roundings. Sunday, im told, as Alex and Danii had to be back at the club for coaching, was much lighter, but still a beautiful day. Peter V, Hugh, Scott Day and Rohan Nosworthy showed us all how to sail on the river with Peter winning the Travellers Trophy, Hugh in 2nd place and Scott 3rd.

2010 NSW Travellers Trophy - Manning Point

Congratulations Peter, Hugh and Scott and thanks to the Taree Aquatic Club for another great weekend on the river

2010 Summer Series Heat2

A depleated fleet sailed Heat 2 of the Summer Series on Sunday. With 3 boats away at Manning Point for the Travellers Trophy and a few others unable to find crew, the 4 boats that did sail, found a very tricky blue course with more holes in it than a sieve. But all in all, a beautiful day on the water.

2010 Club Championship Heat2

With HSC nearly over we had a great turnout (12 Boats) for Heat 2 of the Club Championship. Once again finding crew was an effort for some of the boats with Ted having to venture out on his own. Hugh and Tara sailed a great race in his new boat "Carbon Neutral" for a runaway win. The Race for 2nd and 3rd was a battle between 4 boats, anyone of them in contention right up to the finish line. Great to see Tom and Sam back in Peak and in the mix

2010 ACT State Championship

Last weekend saw Hugh, Danii-elle and Mike head off to Canberra for this years ACT State Titles.
With 4 races over the weekend in everything from calm to a gale, Hugh and Danii-elle came in 2nd behind Peter V in his new boat "Him". Thanks to all the local team for putting on another great event. See you all at Christmas for Nationals. And a special thanks to Bill Kerrigan for the pictures.

This is a great regatta with good sailing and a fun time. Plan is to stay at the caravan park next to the where the racing is. You can get a cabin or pitch a tent. 20/21 Nov.
Who is going with whom so we can get organised?!
Check your emails as Michael Tait will be sending updates and information about this and other regattas coming up.

2010 Spring Series Heat 5

GEORGIA TRIES HER BEST
Some very strong gusts took their toll on the boats with light crew today in this Spring Series Handicap race. "Bear All" looked to be well away only to be hunted down midway through the race. Georgia did her best to try and help dad keep the boat upright but the wind eventually won and a swim was needed, just to cool off.

1st. Saltwater
2nd The Hairy Lemon
3rd Samba Pa Ti
4th Invisible
Bear All was DNF

Willoughby Shield Heats1&2

5 TIGERS
Sunday 24th October, Heats 1&2 of the Willoughby Shield. On a dull and overcast day 5 Tigers took to the water. In the first race after 57 minutes Hugh and Alex crossed the line in a dead heat. In the second race Alex got lucky with a nice lift near the top mark and managed to hold off David and Hugh for the win.

Having it large in Sydney

I read this guys blog every day in an attempt to be informed about the going's on in the world of big boys/girls boats. He had been complaining about the lack of news, so i sent him an email with a few pics i had taken of Alex sailing with Harry, Tom and Danii-elle. This is what came up on his blog the next day.

2010 Spring Series Heat 4

FOLLOW THE LEADER
What started out as a drifter turned into a great days racing. Every boat had a go at the front and, at the back, with positions changing at every mark. Thankfully the wind freshened towards the middle of the race and it wasn't until the top mark for the final time that Hugh pulled away to win.
